E-motion-nal pictures (how I call them) haven't only the longer aftereffect but also the longer way from the idea to the screen like any other mulitmedia production. And today the post production is still one of most kept secrets to please the audience. Digidog provides a network of teams for compositing like roto-scoping, tracking, keying, animation, color grading and visual effects to make things happen never considered to be possible for heavy restoration, tuning, 3d, finalizing, correcting and cutting of any of captured footage. From the helicopters coming out of your ears to sounds and orchestras never been heard in films, it is all possbile.

Most people wouldn't espect how many things have to be solved in post production process, or better sad: how it would look like if not. When a shot was exiting, often the rumor is going around, that "they" spend millions of dollars to rebuild this amazing picture in reality and shoot it with expensive cameras, stunts and what ever. The truth is: lot's of what you see, does not even exist, not even as a real tiny model.

And why does the atmosphere pretends to be so unrealistically nicely warm, or cold, or just some what exiting? It is because of a clever mixture of tracking, keying, rotoscoping and color grading. If you take a closer look to the image above (the girl in the city), you realize a 'lil brighter area close around her. This is an enlighted spot that follows her to give her more focus in this picture full of urban informations. Why? Because the distance between her and the backfront is too big to have a proper backllight on the set for seperating her for our eyes. If this would be a real shot, we had to make that in the post production. But maybe this isn't a real shot and she is cut out from another shot. In this case the enlighted spot could maybe help to smudge the parts across her and the new background. And even the wet kind of look of the city is just made with peaks in luma and chroma curves, made by smart hands on a computer workstation.

The guy in the other picture here attemps to fly a 'lil bit more than he actually did. "Somebody" helped him by taking him off from his real background into another picture, with some speed simulating flashlights behind, while a tracker cares about, that we don't see any little peace of the old background around his twirling legs or hands ... For him it was a jump of 2 seconds, for the audience it was a jump of 2 minutes, and for the compositing artist it was a jump of 2 days  ...
